Robert E. Babcock

Robert “Reb” Babcock has practiced law in the Columbia River and Southern California regions for over 50 years. As one of the nation’s most experienced lawyers in matters relating to the Longshore and Harbor Worker’s Compensation Act and several of its extensions, he has first-hand experience with nearly every issue that may arise.

Mr. Babcock has a strong record of effective settlement efforts, and – when settlement cannot be reached – many appearances before the Office of Administrative Law Judges, the Benefits Review Board, the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, and, on two occasions, the United States Supreme Court.

Prior to joining the Longshore/DBA Mediator’s team, Mr. Babcock served as a mediator for Oregon’s Appellate Settlement Conference program. His skills and reputation have resulted in his selection as a speaker at more than 50 regional and national conferences, and as a mediator in cases from Seattle to San Diego.
